The Great Divide

Brief Overview

It feels almost too obvious as to why some are succeeding and others are not. It comes down to three BIG trends that are brewing. These trends will affect your success.

Big Ideas

The 2 things that get in the way of success [02:44]

What’s the difference between entrepreneurs who used to be at the top of their game, but are now on the decline, versus those who have seen growth year-over-year and continue to skyrocket and grow? In my opinion, it boils down to two things. One is ego and two is hunger.

Ego gets in the way because ego can stop you from wanting to learn new things. It can stop you from realizing that you don’t know everything. It can stop you from realizing that things are changing all the time. It can stop you from learning from not only your peers but also the people that you’re teaching. And so, ego can get in the way. It can be a complete block from your growth if you let it. But if you squash the ego and realize that there are so many opportunities to learn from people who are at the same level, a higher level, and also who may be in the earlier stages of growing their business, who could still teach you a lot of things. Because maybe they’re innovating in a way that is not common. Maybe they’re innovating in a way that is different from what you’ve done but they’re seeing results. Taking those ideas and applying them to your own business could have a huge result. So, ego gets in the way.

Number two is hunger. Hunger to want to get better, hunger to want to learn, hunger to continuously improve and grow and help more people. That hunger to learn is the drive that keeps you moving forward. It keeps you on the edge of your dream. It keeps you wanting to continuously attend seminars and learn from others and invest in yourself. Because the work is never done, my friend. You and I we’ve got to continuously learn. We’ve got to continuously put ourselves in the position to learn from other people, from materials, from events.

What I’m about to share with you next are 3 trends. This is what I’m calling “The Divide”. If you’re not paying attention to these trends, your business could be in some serious trouble. And in order for you to be on the right side of these trends depends on you putting your ego to the side and staying very hungry…

Results Matter [06:43]

Trend number one… Results. Your student, customer, and/or client results matter. People buy from you to get some kind of a result. People buy from you to improve their life in some capacity. And you should actually care what happens after the sale is made. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.

Unfortunately, a huge majority of business owners focus all their attention and energy on making the sale. And what happens is that the trickle-down effect is poor at best and the whole customer experience sucks. Those of us though who are doubling down our attention on continuously improving the customer experience with a hyper-focus on helping our clients and customers get results, are going to continue to see long-term wins. Results matter more today than ever before.

Women/Relationships [09:13]

Trend number two… Women. “What? Stuey, come on. You’re not being sexist, are you?” No, I’m not. What I’m here to tell you is that there is a massive rise of women who are kicking serious butt in business right now and I bring this to you because there are some underlying characteristics about women in general that we all need to be aware of. In our recent Tribe launch, 6 of our top 10 JV partners were women. Fascinating isn’t it? Because the year before, only two were part of the top 10.

So, why are women thriving in today’s marketplace? Well, number one, women, in general, are more nurturing and actually care for their people. And so, it goes back to what we talked about with the whole results because they care, they are much more hands-on in helping their people after the sale is made get a result. And what happens is they’re much more in it for the relationship. The relationship is more important to them than making a quick buck. And so, the way they sell is completely different as well. Men are much more aggressive. Men are much more alpha male going for the sale, close, close, close.

Women are much more about the relationship. And so, they’re making sales not because of any fancy closing “techniques” or ninja psychology or any of that. They’re making sales because they’ve got genuine relationships with their audience and it’s those relationships where there’s an enormous amount of trust. So, when they say, “Hey, go buy this,” or, “Hey, buy that,” their people jump at the opportunity because there is such a bedrock of trust that has been built because of the relationship. I’m telling you right here right now, not only will you see women continue to thrive, but my prediction is you’re going to see women dominate in the marketplace moving forward. Women are smart, women are savvy, and women actually care.

Innovation [12:08]

Trend number three is innovation. I am seeing way too many people get comfy without any innovation. Whether it’s innovation in their product, or innovation in their marketing. There is nothing for their audience to look forward to. It’s the same old, same old. It is boring. If you want to continue to stay top of mind for your audience then you’ve got to innovate. You’ve got to invest back into what it is that you’re producing. If you don’t look to innovate and try new things, you are going to be passed by everybody else who is focused on the customer experience, who is focused on improving their products or services, who is focused in investing back into their people.

One of the greatest things that happened for us with the whole Tribe launch was the fact that people were looking forward to our marketing. People look forward to seeing what we’re going to do every year because we spent an enormous amount of time and energy in innovating and improving and continuously reinvesting back into the whole customer experience and product.

What happens if you ignore these trends? [14:48]

So, if you decide to ignore these 3 trends, I hate to break it to you but you’re going to struggle. You’re going to struggle long-term because at the end of the day, results matter. At the end of the day relationship matters. And at the end of the day, innovation matters. And if you ignore all three of those, you are in serious trouble. So, don’t let your ego get in the way. Stay hungry and make sure you get your clients results, make sure you are in it for the long haul, make sure you’re building rewarding relationships, and make sure you innovate on your products, on your marketing and the whole customer experience, because when you do, you win.
