Stay Away From These People

Brief Overview

We experienced some technical glitches during an event launch and it created two distinct reactions with our audience. Today, I’m going to share the good, the bad & the ugly, along with my thoughts on where to put your attention.

Big Ideas

[00:37] In the last episode, I gave you a behind-the-scenes look at what happened with our Marketing Forecast Live event. If you haven’t heard that episode, go check it out here. This was a one-night, online event that we did to raise a whole bunch of money for a great cause and it was incredible. It was awesome, but it didn’t happen without a few hiccups. And as a result, that created some reactions. Those reactions fell into two buckets. The first bucket—understanding and compassion. The second bucket—negative and vocal.

[03:10] Here are some of the reactions that we got…

We are overwhelming the servers which is a good thing. It means so many people are on that the servers are getting too many hits. I think the link to buy the replays still works. If not, I know they’re working on it. Remember, this is for hurricane relief.

I still can’t get in, but I can only imagine how I would feel if this was my live broadcast. My thoughts are with the team and the presenters and I’m confident that everything will get back on track where it’s supposed to be soon. If not, I’m extra-glad that I donated to the relief fund because I’ll know I’ll watch it later. I’m interested to know what happened and what the fix was, so I can learn from this going forward. I love that this is a group of industry leaders that we look up to, who took the time to be part of this to raise funds and awareness for the victims of the hurricane. The delay I’m experiencing in watching this is nothing compared to what those impacted by the hurricane have gone through.

It’s the Q&A that I really want. And yes, hurricane relief is great but the Q&A and scheduling time to be here is important to people who did set aside time to be here.

[08:33] At the end of the day, we can either focus on the negative and let it bring us down or we can put our energy back into the people that fuel us. Don’t let the negative and the vocal tear you down. Don’t let them prevent you from moving forward. If you focus on the people who love you and love what you do, that’s going to give you the energy to push through the challenges that you’ll inevitably face.

Quote to Remember

Don’t let the negative and the vocal tear you down. Don’t let them prevent you from moving forward. If you focus on the people who love you and love what you do, that’s going to give you the energy to push through the challenges that you’ll inevitably face.” – Stu McLaren
